On the deplorable state of documentaries....

For my first entry, I thought I would write about ScAlito and the Supreme Court, but it is just too depressing.

One of the neat things about raising nerdlings is that you can be obsessed with dinosaurs, space, natural disasters and the like without too many snorts of contempt by the less-geeky. Currently, the elder nerdling (henceforth, EN) is obsessed by volcanoes. So we checked out this documentary at the library. Silly me! Apparently, the definition of documentary has changed at National Geographic. Little things like facts, explanations, cool animations describing how things work have been replaced with little vignettes of scientists killed by the volcanoes they study. Poor EN turned to me – “Let’s never, never go near a volcano. You will die.” Yes, Thank you National Geographic.
